Year 4 Walking Tour

On Monday morning, Primary 4 and Class B went on a walking tour with Father Damien in search of more information for their WAU topic, ‘My Place and Yours.’
The children explored the old graveyard, finding the oldest headstone dating back over 200 years. They got to discover and learn the story of the Kirgan Monument and were able to find the grave of George Shields, a famous playwright from Ballymoney.
The children studied old photographs to visualise the changes in our Church over the last 100 years and were given a guided tour of inside the Chapel including the opportunity to play the church organ, see inside the church safe and hear all about the history of the old Church, the statues within and renovations which have taken place over the years.
We really enjoyed our tour and wish to thank Fr Damien for sharing his knowledge of the local area with us and in particular, the parish of Ballymoney and the Church of Our Lady and St Patrick’s.
