St. Brigid’s Hockey Champions!
6th February 2020
What an exciting morning of hockey. Our mixed hockey team gallantly participated in a sharply run, thoroughly enjoyable tournament at Rugby Ave, courtesy of the well organised A-level students of Coleraine Grammar School.
After winning our group section, the boys and girls were victorious in an exciting quarter final setting up a challenging semi-final encounter with Portrush PS. And what a game it proved to be-end to end, riveting, competitive hockey. Superb passing and excellent teamwork on St. Brigid’s team’s part proved to be the deciding factors in a well fought contest.
Through to the final against a strong Harpur’s Hill squad, we knew this would be a battle of skill and determination. A resilient defence, imaginative midfield and accurate shot taking from our forwards set up the perfect finale to a wonderful tournament. Victory! And to top it all off, Jack was named the ‘Boy Player of the Tournament’. Well done to all the boys and girls and a huge thankyou to our wonderful supporters.
