St. Brigid’s Girls are Champions Again!!

Our fantastic P7 girls brought home more silverware today, winning the SCORE 6 a side indoor soccer tournament.
Topping the table in the group stages earned us a quarter final spot against Portrush PS. After a close battle, we came out victorious setting up a semi-final match against our neighbours in Leaney PS. A solid, skilful performance was required and the girls did not disappoint. Entering the final of the competition was gratifying and rewarding in itself and it gave our girls the confidence to work together right to the end. But it was far from easy. Millstrand PS played superbly and took us to penalties. Excitement mixed with a few nerves allowed for a tense finale to a wonderful competition and through teamwork, lots of support and encouragement for each other, and of course a great deal of skill and determination, we achieved the perfect result – victory. Well done to all the 14 teams who played and thankyou to SCORE for a well organised tournament.
A very special mention to Niamh who was crowned ‘Player of the Tournament’ for her ‘outstanding performances throughout’!
