St Brigid’s PS Annual Prize Day 2019
20th June 2019
St Brigid’s PS celebrated their annual prize day on Thursday 20 June 2019 with a great turn out of parents to support the achievements of the children and the school. Mr O’Neill opened the proceedings by welcoming everyone including the traditional grand entrance for all the Year 1 and 2 children. Mr O’Neill also welcomed special guest Bridget Clelland, a past pupil of St Brigid’s and former Ireland hockey captain, who joined with us to help distribute prizes and acknowledge the many achievements of the children and the school.
Mr O’Neill announced all the sports’ winners and gave an account of the many highlights from during the school year. St Brigid’s PS can boast such a rich tradition in developing the children’s skills and talents in so many areas, from sport to music, drama, arts and dance alongside the development of each child academically, emotionally and spiritually. The Christmas show was, as always, a massive success and the contribution from every child was a wonderful achievement. The celebration of the sacraments in Year 3, 4 and 7 were special occasions for everyone involved and they complimented the lovely connections made with family, grandparents and the parish as a whole during the year especially during Catholic Schools’ Week.
Whilst the children are the undoubted stars, Mr O’Neill paid tribute to the wonderful work that goes on day in and out by the talented and hardworking staff in the school. Everyone has a part to play and Mr O’Neill said that without their commitment and dedication, many of the achievements and opportunities would not be possible.
Mr O’Neill praised the high quality of what St Brigid’s has to offer and expressed his pride at being Principal of such an amazing school. Mr O’Neill thanked everyone for their support throughout the year and wished everyone a lovely, restful summer break. He looked forward to welcoming everyone back to school in September and wished the departing Year 7s all the very best in their new schools.
