NI Boys’ Hockey Finals
8th April 2022
An exhausting, but exciting, day was had by our superbly talented boys’ hockey team in the PlayBall Pavilion in Stormont last week. As champions of the Causeway Coast and Glens area, we were feeling confident and well prepared for the tournament ahead, although the nerves were starting to creep in! We knew we would come face to face with other regional champions and the games would be fast and furious.
We played seven matches in the group stage, resulting in four victories, two drawn games and one defeat. The boys were delighted with our position of second in our group out of eight teams, which earned us a spot to challenge for the Cup. We met a very strong Moneymore team in the quarter finals and sadly that was where our hockey finals journey ended, as we were defeated 3 – 1.
The disappointment was short-lived, however, as the bus pulled into Apple Green for a well-deserved lunch, followed by a song-filled journey home to school!
It was an amazing experience. Our boys showed heart and determination, skill and agility, and most importantly teamwork and camaraderie. The encouragement they gave each other and the pride they displayed playing for their school in front of their parents was incredible. A fantastic display by a wonderful bunch of boys.
Thank you to our amazing parents who are always so supportive.
We are all so proud of you!
