'In The Net' Play
25th January 2017
St Brigid’s Primary School was delighted to host the drama entitled, ‘In the Net’ by Alter Ego Creative Solutions Ltd Theatre Company. This play was commissioned by the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland. The school also welcomed Leaney Primary School pupils who joined St. Brigid’s in this special event. The play put forward and reinforced key messages about staying safe in the digital world and cyber-bullying. Acting Principal, Mrs McNally, said that although this was an amusing and very entertaining drama, it succeeded in exploring very important issues relating to the internet, such as:
· how to use the internet safely
· to keep personal information safe
· to be aware of the impact of cyber-bullying on others
· to know who you can turn to if you are being cyber-bullied
· what to do if something inappropriate appears on the screen.
All the children thoroughly enjoyed the live performance. Pupils were able to reflect on the knowledge and skills they had learned to protect themselves in the digital world and to understand the consequences of certain actions on the internet. Mrs McNally thanked Alter Ego Creative Solutions Ltd Theatre Company for their wonderful performance and the Safeguarding Board for Northern Ireland for bringing it to Ballymoney.
