Groundforce Family Evening
22nd October 2015
Since the beginning of term parents have been busy working on the school’s outdoor area in order to enhance its environment. The weather has been seasonally very good and during the month of October the team of volunteers worked in the evenings to clear the nature trail, weed raised flower beds and paint the outdoor furniture and fences. Everyone got involved including the volunteer grandparents who led the way when it came to gardening and decoration.
Following all of the improvements the school held a Groundforce Evening for families, where everyone was encouraged to enjoy the school’s environment and plant for the future. Mrs McNally organised outdoor planting, a wellie hunt and the making of bird feeders. It wasn’t just the birds who were looked after because there were also winter homes made for bugs in their own Bug Hotel, a Ladybird Lodge, a Bee B&B, a Frog House and an Owl Boot. A giant tepee was erected which cause great excitement amongst the children, as well as a BBQ to keep everyone fed. The evening finished with a Dark Dark Walk in the nature trail, which fitted brilliantly with the Hallowe’en excitement around the school.
The school looks great and you turned up in such great numbers. Well done everyone.
