Ditch the Stabilisers Day

“One of the most important days of my life was when I learned to ride a bicycle.” – Michael Palin

We had the fantastic opportunity to learn to cycle ‘stabiliser-free’ in our school playground. We had children whizzing around, propelling themselves with their feet and finding their innate balance, before finally putting feet on the pedals and becoming ‘real cyclists’. It was a joy to see the children reach this milestone. By teaching our children to ride a bike, we are giving them a skill for life and an opportunity to develop a love of active lifestyles.

Thank you to Johnny from Sustrans who coached the children and to all of the parents who supported their children on the day. It really was a day to remember.

Look out for news of more cycling activities in St Brigid’s this term.

Well done to all – and keep cycling!
