Year 7 Leavers' Day Celebrations Tuesday 25th June
26th June 2019
Tuesday 25 June brought to an end 7 years at St Brigid’s for the current crop of Year 7 pupils. The day was a wonderful celebration of the highlights for the children. The day started with a special mass celebrated by Fr O’Brien. The children, in true St Brigid’s fashion, all took part in the liturgy with their beautiful singing, accomplished readings and reverence in bringing up the gifts. Fr O’Brien praised the children for their commitment to their faith during their years at St Brigid’s and recalled especially the lovely day they had for their Confirmation in April.
After the mass Mr O’Neill thanked everyone who helped to make the journey for the children such a rich and varied experience over the years. St Brigid’s, year after year, has been the platform for so many achievements and successes for all the children. Mr O’Neill wished all of the children well in their new schools in September and impressed upon them all that they were very much ready for this new journey.
A new dimension to Leavers’ Day was the involvement of the PTA in presenting the children with a token representing their new school and Mr O’Neill announced the school the children were moving on to and Sarah Boyle, Chairperson of the PTA, made the presentation.
This was followed by the children singing ‘A million Dreams’ whilst sharing their own dreams for the future. The children and parents then watched some videos that shared memories from their days at St Brigid’s and pictures showing how much they had grown down through the years. The day was brought to a close with the children singing their Year 7 class song.
We wish all the Year 7s well in their move to secondary education in September and we hope that they continue to grow and make us proud.
