Reading for Refugees
What a busy day in St Brigid’s Primary School!
We began the day by making pancakes to celebrate Pancake Tuesday. Staff and children donned aprons and chef hats to mix, whisk and flip the delicious pancakes. Only one or two were dropped on the floor!
Primary 5 then got to work, setting up a Book Sale to celebrate World Book Day. The children from all classes came to choose from a wonderful variety of second-hand books. There was a great buzz in the hall as children browsed through books of fact, fiction and poetry.
Both events were run as fundraisers for the Reading for Refugees campaign. Author, Garry McKinney, will travel to Jordan next month to work with the UN in providing a library of books for Syrian refugee children. We are looking forward to a visit from Garry next week, when we will present him with our cheque.
Thank you to our parents who donated so generously and helped to make our day a success. Congratulations also to the winner of our ‘Guess the Sweeties’ competition! See pictures below.
