Killowen Shield Finals
27th March 2026
After a fantastic series of performances at the beginning of the week, we had secured a qualifying spot in the much-coveted Killowen Shield. The boys were well prepared and excited to get out onto the pitch again and play. We faced tough opposition against St. Colum’s Portstewart, Ballysally, St. Malachy’s and Carnalridge. Getting off to a winning start in our first two games filled the boys with confidence, heading into, arguably, our toughest game of the group against St. Colum’s. The boys’ passing was sublime, the teamwork, impressive, the defending dominant, and the goal scoring, impressive. We had so many goal chances, unfortunately, that we just couldn’t convert, and a strong attack from St. Colum’s ended in a lucky goal which placed them in a formidable position in the group. We needed to secure a win in our final game, so the boys stepped up, put the disappointment of the previous loss behind them and did what was required. A wonderful display of skill and passing in this final game secured second place and silver medals for our amazing footballers.
Well done boys; we are so proud of you. Thanks to Coleraine University for hosting, to our brilliant coach, Justin, and to Davy for all his weekly training sessions. A successful end to the soccer season.
Congratulations Jacob, Harrison, Archer, Oliver, Braden, Max, Yvan, Milo, Seaan and Keelan.
