Mrs Kathleen Rodgers has retired from her role as cleaner and lunchtime supervisor in St. Brigid’s Primary School, Ballymoney after eighteen wonderful years of service.

Kathleen or Miss, as the children knew year, has had a long association with the school both as an employee and a mother of pupils in the school.  When her own children, Damien and Imelda, left St. Brigid’s PS, Kathleen took up a position as an employee at the school in 1998.  Working alongside her husband Don they formed part of a very important team which kept the school looking so well.

At lunchtime Kathleen was also a supervisor and this was a role she particularly enjoyed as she looked forward each day to being with the children.  It was this role as a lunchtime supervisor or ‘Miss’ that the children will best remember her by.  The Primary 1 children, who performed a special assembly for Kathleen, knew her as the lady with the bright red apron who helped open your packets of crisps, taught you how to skip or picked you up when you fell in the yard. Kathleen always loved the Primary 1 class and would visit each new group of P1 children when they entered the school to introduce herself and tell the boys and girls that she was there to help them whenever they needed her.

Kathleen enjoyed her assembly with the children and their kind gifts to her.  She laughed heartily when the P1 children described her as Don’s girlfriend.

Kathleen thank-you. Our very best wishes to you, your family and new grandchildren.
